A Helping Hand and an Open Heart

Shoshana was celebrating her Bat Mitzvah and chose to perform an act of Chessed to start her adult life off on the right foot.

The Schreiers not only lent a hand at their visit, but they also opened their hearts and gave a contribution to help sponsor the Bat Mitzvah celebrations for three disadvantaged Israeli girls in Israel. Part of the contribution came from Rabbi Schreier's shul charity fund.

The Knesset Absorption Committee Praises Meir Panim

The Committee received updates on the activities and came to the conclusion that organizations should be encouraged to give assistance through prepaid shopping cards which allows the purchase of groceries according to each individuals needs “just as Meir Panim does”.

“Ohr Layeled” Summer Course Deemed a Success

The course took place at the Ohr Akiva Youth Center, under the management of Ms. Zehavi Ohana, who graciously agreed to host the program at the center. Rabbi Shalom Suissa invested in each and every child and instilled in the children the message of love and respect for all.

German Tourist Group Chooses Meir Panim

The group was on a two-week tour of Israel with a focus on the people of Israel in their homeland. As part of their comprehensive program, the group sought out opportunities to lend a helping hand. When they learned of the work of Meir Panim, they were intrigued and eager to take part. For four days the group volunteered in different capacities making an impact on staff and patrons alike.

The Dribens of Reading, Pennsylvania Serve Lunch in Jerusalem

The family of four arrived for the lunch "rush hour" and quickly rolled up their sleeves and got to work. The boys and their father served patrons while Lynn prepared trays for the continuous influx of diners. In the few hours that they worked, the Dribens served well over 100 diners and for each one they had a smile and a kind word. In Memory of Mr. Larry Zusman, z”l

Mr. Larry Zusman, of Columbus, Ohio, has been an Honorary Board Member of American Friends of Meir Panim. Larry, and his wife, Leonore, had graciously dedicated the Meir Panim “Beit Zusman” Free Restautant in Kiryat Gat in memory of their parents, which has provided thousands of daily, hot meals to needy Israelis.

A New Volunteering Opportunity in Meir Panim's Free Restaurant in Jerusalem

Large groups will be split, with half preparing and serving food and half preparing gift baskets of toiletries (i.e. soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, etc.) for the diners. Large groups are requested to collect toiletries for distribution in all sizes and shapes. The volunteers will then distribute the gift baskets amongst the diners in the free restaurant.

Volunteers are also welcome to partake of the nutritious meal served in the soup kitchen, for a symbolic donation.
