YOUNG ISRAEL OF WEST HEMPSTEAD

Young Israel of West Hempstead, located on Long Island, or for short, the – “YIWH” – was established by a handful of families in 1955 and has grown to be a congregation of over 700 families. It is a community that is proud of its connection to Israel and its people. The Combined Israel Appeal (CIA) of the YIWH, is an over 45 year tradition supporting tzedakah projects in Israel. In light of the pandemic, the CIA decided to conduct their appeal in order to address the food insecurity many Israelis are facing. Meir Panim was chosen as a beneficiary to provide Meals-on-Wheels to Israelis in Jerusalem and in Or Akiva, a socioeconomically challenged town near Caesarea. The grant from the YIWH enabled Meir Panim to meet its Matching Grant goal of $500,000!

DAILY GIVING

Daily Giving mission is to enable every Jew to easily perform the mitzvah of tzedaka every single day, and to disperse those funds to deserving Jewish non-profit organizations around the world on a daily basis.

Just as Jews pray three times a day, put on tzitzis each morning, and make blessings before eating, giving charity should also be performed regularly – each and every day. Tzedaka Yomi makes that goal – that mitzvah – easy and attainable. Many of us have been taught from a very young age to put a penny in the pushke every day. Jewish children across the world do this mitzvah each and every morning with zeal and excitement.

Tzedaka Yomi is determined to bring back the joy that giving just a little can bring to one’s soul. When you donate daily, your small donation will be combined with thousands of others, and given each day to a deserving charity.
