Meir Panim Update
Making A Difference
January 1, 1970

For one week, a group of 14 tenth and eleventh graders volunteered in the development cities of Yerucham and Dimona. Considered two of the poorest cities in Israel, there is no lack of work to be done and the weeklong visit was truly appreciated by the local volunteer organizations and residents. Residents were thrilled to meet the SAR students and felt that their enthusiasm was catchy. They look forward to a repeat visit next year.

Meir Panim Yerucham director, Nissim, coordinated the efforts of the students amongst the many volunteer organizations of the community in an effort to spread the good fortune and to give the students a varied experience. The SARHS students were kept busy sorting clothing and house wares in the Meir Panim-Power of Giving warehouse, renovating and painting kindergartens, planting gardens and more. The students were also treated to some local trips and to joint learning programs with Israeli students. There is no doubt that this was an experience not to be forgotten by residents or volunteers for a long time.
