  Feb 15, 2007
During the recent “winter vacation” break, 50 students of all ages from Brooklyn’s Yeshiva of Flatbush traded in their long-awaited week long respite for hands-on chesed work at the Meir Panim Relief Center in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Naftali Besser, Dean of Students, led the group to Israel where they met Moshe Lefkowitz, one of Meir Panim’s outreach directors, who explained how the organization, which has branches throughout Israel, prepares thousands of meals each day for indigent Israeli citizens of all ages. The students-both boys and girls-rotated morning shifts at the Meir Panim soup kitchen in Jerusalem, where they prepared fruits and vegetables for the tasty lunch meals that are served to local citizens.
