Meir Panim Update
Tu B’Shvat at Meir Panim
January 31, 2024

Last week in Israel and around the world we marked the holiday of Tu Bshvat, the celebration for our trees and nature. This holiday takes place halfway through the winter season in Israel, where there is rain and cooler temperatures, and the landscape is bright green with leaves starting to burst forth on trees.  This year however, it serves as another milestone in this terrible bitter war, another holiday where displaced families are away from home, troops away from their families serving on the front lines, and hostages being held by terrorists.

While usually at Meir Panim we try to truly bring joy with every holiday and special occasion for our patrons,  this year in particular we remain committed to bringing joy and “brightening the faces” in our expanded mission of supporting those most affected by the war.

Meir Panim branches around the country provided fruit platters, both to dine in our branches, but also in to-go containers for those taking home and to temporary housing for displaced families, and of course even to our front-line troops to remind them how much their sacrifices are appreciated.

Our staff and volunteers travelled to every area of the country they could to make sure to remind our community, and ourselves, that spring is coming, life renews and brighter, happier days are coming.
